Police Checkpoint For Illegal Mopeds

Hello residents and hope you are all doing well,

Yesterday on the 28th October 2025 your local officers were on an operation targeting illegal mopeds driving without improper documents and to make sure they are not taking part in any illegal activities. A police checkpoint was held stopping any moped that came through Streatham heading towards Brixton and had immigration officers along side us with Secretary of state for the home department to answer questions for BBC.

The goal of the checkpoint was making sure drivers had proper insurance and valid mot as well as making sure no illegal substances were being carried into Brixton as it is common for drugs to be delivered via fake delivery drivers who would pose as just eats, Deliveroo or Uber eats drivers.

Several mopeds were seized as they did not hold proper documents such as insurance or MOT and a few arrest were made involving a stolen moped, these checkpoint are being held London wide as this is more than just a local issue as majority of vehicle crimes involve mopeds.
