Shoplifting Arrest (£1,200 of L'Oréal Beauty Products) - It Wasn't Worth It! |
||
At approximately 1630hrs on 21/05/2025, a patrolling officer from the Kew Safer Neighbourhood Team made a key arrest following the shoplifting of over £1,200 worth of beauty products from Kew Retail Park. At the time of the arrest, the officer was already engaged in another stop, following up on intel regarding a vehicle believed to be driving without tax, MOT, and with an invalid license. While dealing with the stop, a separate incident came to light, and then into view. Two suspects in partnership, with a shopping bag full to the brim of stolen items made off from Police. Suspects crossed from Bessant Drive over the Mortlake Road towards Beechwood Avenue where a short cross-country sprint apprehended the bag and 1x suspect. The suspect was detained, arrested, and is now in custody. The stolen goods have been recovered. The driver of the original vehicle stop was prosecuted for 'Driving without insurance'. He will now either receive a £300 fine + 6 Penalty points or go to court and potentially get disqualified from driving with an unlimited fine. With the view that patrolling is the lowest common denominator of proper policing, it proved itself today; The Kew Safer Neighbourhood Team would also like to thank members of the public who engaged in trying to apprehend the suspects, retrieving stolen items from the highway, and even providing officers with a cold drink while processing the prisoner. It's clear the community want to target the small, unbearable losses, insults, threats and slights of criminals.
