Local Priorities Fraud Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Fraud, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

⚠️ Fraud Warning – Scam Involving Children Pretending to Have Lost Bank Cards⚠️

Residents are being warned of a recent scam involving young individuals pretending to have lost their travel or bank cards. These individuals approach members of the public claiming they are stranded and need to transfer money to your account so you can withdraw cash for them. Around White City Underground Station or Cash Points

This is a fraudulent scheme involving false bank transactions. Once you transfer your own money or assist in withdrawing cash, the original transfer is either reversed or never actually goes through.

❗ Do NOT:

• Share your bank details with strangers
• Accept bank transfers from unknown people
• Withdraw or hand over cash to someone based on a claimed bank transfer

If approached, walk away and report the incident immediately to the police via 101 or online.

Stay alert and help protect our community from scams.

Fraud can affect anyone within the community, so we want to make sure you have the tools and knowledge to protect yourself from it. It comes in many different forms and across varying channels, whether that's through emails, phone calls or in person encounters. Some adults may be even more vulnerable to fraud or financial abuse, but it is something that everyone can be at risk of.
