Local Priorities Violence against women and girls Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

A live facial recognition operation took place on 11th July 2025. This resulted in 3 arrests of outstanding suspects. 2 arrests related to Violence Against Women and Girls offences and 1 offence related to a recall to prison. There were a number of engagements with community, and reviews with individuals on licence for various offences.

The operation lasted for several hours and contributes to the wider summertime policing plan and neighbourhood guarantee in working to address a range of issues and concerns locally from community direct.

Town Centre team are working with the local Community Enforcement Team Barking and Dagenham, on joint patrols, including East Area Safer Transport Teams and British Transport Police.
