Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Some good news from your local ward team. On 2nd July, officers from Vincent Square in a joint operation with Pimlico North conducted some early morning patrols in known drugs hotspots.
PC Tom Warburton 1287AW spotted a deal taking place on Vauxhall Bridge Road and was assisted by PC Matthew Davies 3494AW and several officers from our local Safer Transport Unit in detaining males involved in the exchange.
One of the detained was found to be in possession of a significant quantity of suspected Class A & B drugs including around 200 wraps of crack cocaine, heroin and spice. He was subsequently arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply (PWITS).
After a long shift of secondary investigation, The Crown Prosecution Service authorised three charges. The defendant was remanded to Magistrates Court the next morning, where PC Davies & PC Warburton attended ensuring the remand application was given due consideration. They were successful; the defendant remains on remand until his next hearing at Crown Court at the end of July.
This was an excellent piece of pro-active work and took a significant quantity of drugs off our local streets. No room for complacency but a success worth sharing!
