Local Priorities Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used) Concern Update

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Personal theft (e.g. pick pocketing, no violence used), which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We've had reports of theft of mobile phones from neighbouring wards, where 2 black males are approaching people asking for the time or asking to use the phone, and then grabbing their phone when they take it out to look and running away. Unlike the e-bike phone snatches, this is happening away from busy high streets, in more residential areas.
If anyone approaches you, put your phone away immediately, and move towards a busier area.
Try to keep and eye on your surroundings.
Keep your phone in your bag or pocket at bus stops, or when sitting at cafe tables, especially outside.
