Shoplifting Arrests

Yesterday all three Chiswick Wards teamed up to target shoplifters on Chiswick High Road. We had plain clothes officers as well as a marked car and cyclists. We responded to information of two individuals trying to break security tags off clothing in an alleyway off the High Road and swarmed the area finding them as they tried to leave. They were searched and nearly £2000 of stolen clothing from a local shop was found in their bags. Both of the persons were also wanted for other offences. They were arrested and have been charged and remanded for court.

Separately PC Allo and Myself gave evidence at court recently for one of the suspects arrested as part of Operation Automotive (targeting vehicle crime), we had seen the male attempting to break into a car whilst shining a torch into the boot. Having pled not guilty the case went to trial and he was found guilty and sentenced to 180 hours unpaid work and a fine. Not the custodial sentence we were hoping for but it sends the message that Chiswick NPT will target and arrest these offenders.
