Local Priorities Violent crime Message

I wanted to provide you an update regarding Violent crime, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

I would like to highlight an excellent piece of work by PCSO Joel Ngoy and PCSO Mel Balulis of South and North Bermondsey Safer Neighbourhood Teams. On Thursday 10th July 2025, whilst on patrol on Lynton Road, Joel and Mel detained a male who moments before had been seen by members of the public chasing a local resident down the street with a machete. Joel and Mel were the first officers to respond to the incident and swiftly located and detained the suspect until police officers arrived. The actions of Joel and Mel lead to the arrest of the suspect by officers and ensuring the safety and reassurance of local residents and the general public.
