👮♂️ Wimbledon Town Centre Patrol – Wednesday 23rd July 2025
Today, officers from the Wimbledon Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out high-visibility patrols across the town centre. Our ongoing aim is to provide reassurance, prevent crime, and work closely with local partners to address the issues that matter most to the community.
We engaged with a number of local businesses and retailers throughout the day, including Centre Court Shopping Centre and Morrisons, continuing our joint efforts to tackle shoplifting, aggressive behaviour, and youth-related disorder. Positive conversations were had with security staff and members of the public, and we thank them for their continued cooperation.
As part of our work around youth engagement and early intervention, officers attended the home address of a young child who has recently been involved in a number of anti-social behaviour incidents within the town centre. This visit was conducted to speak directly with the child and their parent/guardian, helping them to understand the impact of their actions on local businesses and the wider community. The conversation was constructive, and follow-up support will be considered where appropriate.
Officers also maintained a visible presence around transport hubs, including Wimbledon Station and the bus stops outside Centre Court, where concerns have previously been raised about public obstruction and nuisance behaviour. These locations will remain a focus in the coming weeks, particularly with increased footfall expected during the summer period.
Further activity today included welfare checks on individuals identified as vulnerable and follow-ups with local supported living providers. We continue to work in partnership with these services to ensure safeguarding measures are in place and that repeat low-level offending is being addressed appropriately.
If you spot our officers out and about, please feel free to approach us — whether to raise a concern, ask for advice, or just say hello. Community feedback plays a vital role in shaping our policing priorities.
Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping Wimbledon a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for everyone.
See you on patrol. — Wimbledon Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team | ||
