Theft From Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident,

 

The following theft from motor vehicle occurred on Monday 28/07/2025 between 01:25 hours to 01:30 hours a male was captured on victim’s doorbell camera gaining entry to victim’s vehicle parked on driveway on COOMBE GARDENS,NEW MALDEN. Unfortunately, victim left their vehicle unlocked and no damage was caused to vehicle at the time of offence.

 

 The following items stolen within the vehicle was car keys, house keys and a designer Gucci Soho Disco Leather Bag.

Most vehicle crime is opportunistic and happens because of a vehicle being left vulnerable or insecure. There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your property. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.

 

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags, house keys and vehicle keys.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox, or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.  
  • If you have a keyless entry car, use a signal blocking bag, and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
