Dear Residents, As fireworks season approaches, the safer neighbourhood team urge you to prioritize safety and adhere to UK firework laws to prevent injuries, damages, or distress. Follow these guidelines for a safe and enjoyable celebration. UK firework laws Legal use hours: Fireworks are permitted between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM (Midnight on Bonfire night, Diwali, New Year’s Eve, and Chinese New Year). Age restrictions: You must be 18 to buy or possess category F2/F3 fireworksPenalties: Breaching firework laws can result in fines up to £5000 or up to 7 years imprisonment under the fireworks act 2003Prohibited actions Public use without permission: Setting off fireworks in public spaces like streets or parks without local authority approval is illegal. Causing harm or distress: Using fireworks to intimidate, harass, or injure people or animals is prohibited and may lead to criminal charges. Throwing or directing fireworks: Throwing fireworks or aiming them at people, vehicles, or buildings is an offence under the explosives Act 1875.Ignoring safety distances: Failing to maintain safe distances during distances during displays, risking injury or property damage, violates safety regulations.Selling to minors: Supplying fireworks to those under 18(except sparklers for 16+) is illegal and enforceable under trading standards.
