Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We have attended a local pupil referral unit on Friday 21st November 2025 to deliver 'Drug and alcohol abuse first aid' workshops alongside the London Ambulance Service. The delivery of these sessions to young people in Merton are crucial to educate them on the affects of drug and alcohol abuse and also how to respond if they find someone who may need medical help.

The workshops warn of the consequences around using drugs and alcohol, including the long term health impacts that use can have on individuals, in the hope that this will deter young people from such abuse and allow them to make educated decisions going into adulthood. The workshops are hugely beneficial for the young people who received them.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.
