U5:2 TSG - Tackling Armed Drug Dealers in the West End

Last week, the TSG from 5 area were tasked to the West End where they utilised a mixture of uniform and plain clothes tactics, the Officers attention was quickly drawn by CCTV to a group of males outside of The Hippodrome in Leicester Square. The group were seen to approach members of the public and shortly after a believed drug deal exchange was observed.

As the potential buyer of the drugs were observed on CCTV to walk away onto Charing Cross Road. Plain clothes Officers were directed in leading to this male being detained searched and found with Class A drugs and arrested.

A co-ordinated strike with other Officers both in vehicles and and on foot led to the group of four being detained, however it was not a straight forward stop as two of the group fancied a midnight run!

One of the males ran towards Leicester Square and was swiftly detained with a knife recovered in his waistband, the male was arrested for multiple offences including drug dealing and possession of the knife. 

The second male who attempted to run away was also caught, searched and found in possession of a large quantity of cash and arrested for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

Two other males as part of the group were also detained, drugs and cash found. Both arrested for concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. 

A really great example of the benefit of specialised units working in the West End, to keep the community safer and taking criminals off the streets!
