Violence Against Women & Girls - Stratford Town Centre Team

Last night, between 20:00 and 03:00, The Stratford Town Centre Police Team, along with Newham Community Enforcement officers, were in Meridian square ensuring all those passing through were able to do so safely. 

At time of year there are more people out shopping and celebrating due to the festive season. The Town centre Team deployed a mobile police station staffed with officers. The Mobile police station is a safe, warm place for people to come and seek help. It also allows us to provide crime prevention advice on the large monitors to those passing by.

Last night we helped more than 150 Women get home safely. This was from simply providing a safe space to wait for Taxis or buses, helping with charging phones or directions to women who needed help after arguments with partners and reporting allegations of crime.  There were many men that were glad of our help too. 

We also were able to refer a several homeless people via street link, to hopefully get them some shelter or help during this winter.
