Partnership working with Immigration |
||
|
Dear Resident,
Purley & Woodcote SNT have listened to your concerns around the use of mopeds by food delivery riders and their dangerous driving. Today, we worked in partnership with our colleagues from immigration around Purley High street.
The police concentrated on traffic offences committed by the riders, whilst immigration made enquiries in to matters relating to illegal working.
This was a successful operation, with a large number of riders stopped and checked. However, one individual thought he could evade police and the immigration service by entering a shop appearing to collect a delivery then disguised himself upon leaving the shop. Officer reviewed CCTV, ascertained a direction of travel and contained the area. The male was found in possession of cannabis, wanted by immigration for overstaying and has subsequentially been detained.
We will continue to work with our partners to combat matters that concern you the most.
