Local Priorities Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Concern Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

As part of efforts to address VAWG and connected offences on 08/01/2026 Sydenham Safer Neighbourhood Team in partnership with the Bellingham Team carried out a routine visit to an address in Sydenham. This was after receiving reports that the address was being used as a brothel.

A male was arrested on suspicion of a Modern Slavery offence, and safe-guarding was put in place for the victim.
