I wanted to provide an update regarding Violence against women and girls, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. The Village Safer Neighbourhood Team have been made aware of a male approaching females in the Wimbledon Village area and giving persistent, unwanted attention, including commenting on their clothing. At this time, we have received no reports of any physical assaults. However, we are aware of a pattern of behaviour which, when incidents are considered together rather than in isolation, may amount to harassment under the law. Much of this information is currently reaching us via third‑hand accounts and social media, and we have fewer direct reports than the number of incidents being discussed locally. To identify the individual involved and take appropriate action, it is essential that these incidents are reported directly to police.
👮♀️ MPS Advice on Unwanted Attention If someone’s behaviour is making you feel uncomfortable, intimidated, or concerned: ✔️ Trust your instincts – If it feels wrong, it is worth reporting. ✔️ Move to safety – Head towards a busier place, shop, café, or transport hub. ✔️ Call 999 if you feel threatened, followed, or in immediate danger. ✔️ Use 101 or the Met Police website to report unwanted attention that is not an emergency. ✔️ Consider reporting anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. ✔️ Note key details such as description, location, time, and behaviour — these are vital for officers establishing patterns.
📲 How to Report To help us respond effectively, please report any incidents directly to police using:
999 – for emergencies or if you feel at risk 101 – for non‑emergencies Online reporting – via the Met Police website CrimeStoppers (anonymous) – 0800 555 111
Your reports enable us to understand the scale of the issue, increase patrols, and take proportionate action.
