Car Park shopping trolley Scam |
||
|
Dear residents, Just to make you aware, recently, an elderly resident had loaded her shopping into their car boot whilst at Waitrose in Northwood and was sat in the car checking messages on their phone. An unknown male then knocked on her car window to tell her that she had left some shopping in the trolley, which she had apparently left at the trolley park a few meters away. The resident told the male that all her shopping was in the boot of her car, but the male insisted that there was something left behind. The female then got out of her car to look where the items in a trolley were, which were found to not be hers, the female then told the male to take the goods back into the shop. When she got back into her car, her mobile had gone and when she got home, she also noticed that her debit card had been taken out of her purse, all this happened within 2 minutes The female managed to cancel the card and block her phone, Please be mindful when someone you do not know approaches you like this mentioned above! If you do happen to get approached whilst in a car park or similar, then do not open your car door, instead, lower your window slightly and have the conversation with your door locked, then decide if you need to check the trolley, and if you do, make sure you keep your belongings safe, in your possession and lock your car door before you depart, other than that, if you are adamant you have not left anything behind then simply drive off. If you feel this may have happened to you, then it may have been a distraction theft, you can report this on 101 or get in touch with your local Police team. Thank you
