Local Priorities Dangerous driving / speeding Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding dangerous driving and speeding, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Yesterday the Beckenham team partnered with response team in order to conduct multiple traffic stop sites across the Beckenham Wards (Beckenham Town, Shortlands, Kelsey and Clockhouse). Multiple drivers were stopped, some for random checks of insurance and licences, others were stopped due to defects with their cars. 3 drivers were prossessed for using a mobile phone while driving and 1 was processed for not ensuring their children under 3 years old were correctly restrained in a car.

If someone is driving a motor vehicle, they should always be doing so in a safe and considerate manner. Even momentary lapses in judgement can have life changing or devastating consequences for those in the vehicle or innocent bystanders.
