To help keep our community safe, here are some simple but effective tips:
đ Keep Valuables Out of Sight
Store gold, jewellery, and cash in a safe thatâs wellâsecured and not easily findable or preferably not at home at all. Use a safe at a bank or another trusted secure location. Avoid leaving boxes or packaging that hints at valuables in plain view.
đĄ Let There Be Light Use timers for indoor lights if youâre out, and make sure outdoor lighting is workingânothing puts off a burglar like a spotlight!
đ¸ CCTV & Doorbell Cameras If you have them, make sure theyâre working and positioned well. Even a visible camera or a doorbell cam can be a strong deterrent.
đŞ Lock Up Like a Pro Doubleâlock doors, secure windows, and donât leave keys where they can be reached or spotted. Itâs amazing how often burglars simply try their luck with an unlocked door. Place motion sensor alarms at every entry point (downstair entry/exit doors and windows). They cost between ÂŁ5-ÂŁ10 online.
đ Look Out for Anything Unusual Suspicious behaviour? Unknown cars lingering? Someone paying too much attention to houses? Trust your instincts and report it.
đ¤ Community Watchfulness Chat with neighbours, share updates, and keep an eye on each otherâs placesâburglars donât stand a chance against a switchedâon community!
We know topics like this can feel a bit worrying, but remember: awareness is our superpower, and by taking a few simple steps, we can help keep our neighbourhood safe and sound.
If you spot anything concerning, donât hesitate to report it. And as always, weâll keep you updated with any new information. Stay safe, stay smart, and stay brilliant! | |
