SENT OBO The Commuity Co - Chair
The NE BCU Police Encounter Panel (PEP) met on Thursday 15 March at Uplands Patrol Base.
The Police Encounter Panel (PEP) reviewed two Body-Worn Video (BWV) incidents and recognised the calm and professional approach taken by officers in difficult situations. In the first incident, the lead officer was praised for their patience, clear communication, and efforts to de-escalate. Some concerns were raised about unprofessional behaviour after the incident and a potential risk involving a knife, as well as the need for clearer roles. In the second incident, officers were commended for their bravery and teamwork while dealing with a highly aggressive individual. The Panel highlighted the importance of clear planning, gathering information in advance, and supporting officer welfare after such incidents. Overall, the Panel acknowledged the positive work of officers and encouraged continued focus on safety, professionalism, and clear communication.
