Operation Honey Badger

Operation Honey Badger

On Wednesday 6 May, officers from the London Bridge and West Bermondsey Safer Neighbourhood Teams, working alongside British Transport Police (BTP), carried out a proactive operation in the London Bridge area as part of Operation Honey Badger.

This Southwark initiative focuses on tackling retail-related crime, which can have a wider impact on the community, including anti-social behaviour and drug-related activity.

During the operation, a mix of plain-clothes officers, uniformed officers on bicycles, and Police Community Support Officers were deployed to both disrupt offending and provide a visible presence in the area.

Results from the operation:

7 arrests, all involving individuals known to police

8 stop and searches carried out

2 Community Resolutions issued for possession of Class B drugs

6 postal charges to court for offenders for an array of offences

1 closure order for a prolific shoplifter who is also being processed by Southwark council.

We remain committed to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in your area and will continue to carry out targeted operations like this. If you have concerns or information, please speak to your local officers or report via the usual channels.
