Offender Sentenced for 2 stabbings |
||
|
Dear Residents,
This is an update on a long and challenging investigation by local CID officers on Central East BCU, which has now concluded after nearly two years.
Faiz Ismail, a 23 year old male of No Fixed Abode, was sentenced yesterday to 27 years imprisonment at Inner London Crown Court.
He was given a minimum term of 16 years for two stabbings committed on the 28th and 29th July 2024, on Eric Street and British Street, Mile End, E3, respectively.
No motivation was uncovered, and they were believed to be random attacks where the victims suffered numerous stab wounds.
The judge declared him a dangerous offender. One victim was lucky to receive minor injuries only, whilst the other was in a life-threatening condition and has been left with damaged eyesight. An extensive police investigation linked Ismail to the offence via CCTV, items left at the scene, and tracking him after he went on the run from police, arresting him in on 2nd August 2024, after which he was charged and remanded to court.
We remain committed to tackling violent crime and improving safety in our communities.
