I wanted to provide an update regarding knife crime, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. We are aware that many people may be worried about knife crime in their local communities. We are committed to tackling knife crime wherever we find it, in order to keep you safe. If you would like to know more about the guidance that is available, our website includes a number of important resources that can offer guidance, including what to do if you think someone you know needs help, how to keep people safe, and support organisations you can talk to. Passing on information to organisations such as Crimestoppers or Fearless can not only help after a crime or incident, but vitally stop something from happening. Dear Valley Ward Members,
#CommunityCrimeFighting | #OpSceptreWeekOfAction | Day 4
As part of our continued commitment to keeping our neighbourhoods safe, Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team Officers 7174NE and 7111NE carried out intelligence-led weapon sweeps under #OpSceptre, focusing on addressing and preventing knife crime within our community.
These proactive patrols were conducted in key public spaces where local residents, families, and young people regularly gather: 📍 Age UK, Hall Lane E4 Officers carefully searched the surrounding areas including grass verges, overgrown vegetation, seating areas, and flower beds — spaces that are valued and frequently used by members of the community, particularly older residents.
📍 Chase Lane Park E4 Further sweeps were conducted in and around the children’s play area, as well as along the park’s boundary, concentrating on dense bushes and overgrown vegetation where items could potentially be concealed.
🔍 Outcome:
No weapons were found during these searches. ✅ #NegativeResults | #GoodNews
While no items were recovered, these checks remain a vital part of our ongoing work to prevent harm, disrupt potential criminal activity, and reassure the public. Visible patrols and regular searches help deter those who may seek to hide weapons and send a clear message that we are actively protecting our shared spaces.
We understand how important it is for residents to feel safe — whether enjoying a park with family, attending community venues, or simply going about daily life. Your safety and peace of mind are at the heart of everything we do.
🤝 We continue to work closely with the community and encourage anyone with concerns or information to speak to local officers. Your support plays a crucial role in helping us keep these areas secure. Together, we are making a difference.
