We wanted to share a quick update about dangerous driving in your area. Please be assured we’re working to keep everyone safe.
Yesterday, officers from the Tooting Safer Neighbourhood Teams joined forces with Putney Safer Neighbourhood and Live Facial Recognition Team for Live Facial Recognition (LFR) Deployment in Tooting Broadway, SW17.
Live facial recognition (LFR) is a technology that uses cameras to capture images of people's faces in real time and compares them against a watchlist of stored facial images to identify or verify individuals.
The Live Facial Recognition (LFR) deployment in Tooting Broadway yesterday was successful because the technology operated as intended, comparing faces captured in real time against a predefined watchlist and generating alerts where potential matches were identified. The deployment was conducted safely and efficiently, with officers able to assess alerts and take any appropriate action while minimising disruption to the public.
During the operation:
5 arrests were made, some offences included burglary, drugs, shoplifting and failing to attend court, to name a few.
5 tickets issued for traffic related matters
1 vehicle was seized
