All schools across NW10 have now broken up for the summer. Throughout this month, the team has been carrying out additional high-visibility patrols around schools, transport hubs, parks and town centre locations to ensure that young people travel safely home at the end of the school day and do not become involved in anti-social behaviour or gather in large groups. Officers have been engaging with pupils, parents, local businesses and school staff, providing reassurance, addressing concerns and promoting positive behaviour. Particular attention has been given to known hotspot areas, bus routes and locations where young people are known to congregate, helping to prevent disorder and keep the community safe. It has been an emotional time for many schools, with pupils moving on to secondary school, college and university. At Newman Catholic College, there have also been significant changes, as Headteacher Andy Dunne and Deputy Headteacher Susan Grace move on to new opportunities after many years of dedicated service to the school community. During the summer holidays, the team will continue proactive patrols across NW10, focusing on youth engagement, crime prevention and safeguarding. We will also be working alongside local partners and the Met Police Cadets on a range of initiatives, including weapon sweeps, test-purchasing operations, community events and educational activities aimed at reducing violence, preventing anti-social behaviour and strengthening relationships between young people and the police. Our officers remain committed to maintaining a visible presence throughout the summer period, ensuring residents, businesses and young people can enjoy a safe and welcoming community.
