Summer Burglary Prevention |
Dear Resident, As many of you will soon be taking your summer breaks, burglars may be looking to target homes that appear unoccupied. Many burglaries are opportunistic, and a few simple precautions can make a significant difference in protecting your home and belongings. Help protect your home by following these simple steps:
🏡 Make your home look occupied by using timer switches. Ask a trusted neighbour to collect post, remove leaflets and move bins back off the pavement. 🔑 Keep keys, valuables and important documents secure and out of sight. 🚗 Protect your vehicle by using additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms, trackers and immobilisers. 🚲 Secure sheds, garages, bicycles and garden equipment with good-quality locks. 📹 Install or maintain security measures such as burglar alarms, CCTV and video doorbells where possible. 📱 Avoid sharing holiday plans or real-time travel updates on social media until you have returned home. 👀 And always report suspicious activity to police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
