Cracking down on street crime in Walthamstow High Street E17

The Met is cracking down on street crime, like people doing drugs and drinking on the street.

But we know there is more to do. Last week the Town Centre Team were tackling large groups of youths gathering outside High Street E17 near Cleveland park Avenue, alongside our regular dedicated term time presence at Walthamstow Bus Station E17.

Street Drinkers have been dispersed from outside the Library and Town Square, and on Friday 2nd October officers arrested one person for possession of class A drugs along Planetree Path E17.

We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams across London, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals - including with new tech like live facial recognition cameras, drones and e-bikes.

We’re now arresting more than 1,000 extra criminals every month and seeing local crimes like burglary, robbery and theft start to fall, with ‘neighbourhood crime’ down 14%.
