Crime update for Belmont ward. |

PCSO Walker has been patrolling around Belmont ward today 9th October 2026 visiting victims of crime to provide crime prevention advice and give reassurance. The first visit was the victim of a stolen bike on The Gallop. He had the bike taken from a locked garage at around midnight, and wasn't aware of the theft until the following morning. The victim is now going to increase the security of the garage by adding a 4 point locking mechanism and adding a CCTV camera. He has also started locking his bikes to immoveable objects within the garage. Explained to the victim about The Bike Register scheme whereby an officer can mark and register bikes on the service, which can then be traced back to the owner if they are stolen. Please see below or Google this if you are interested and we should be able to arrange to mark your bikes, there is no charge.
He then carried out a visit to Baron Close/Cotswold Road where a victim had their vehicle broken into and items were taken. Can we remind residents to make sure no items are left on view, especially overnight, and make sure the vehicle is locked.
A resident who lives near Belmont Pastures contacted the Safer Neighbourhood Team asking if we could collect half a dozen Nitrous Oxide bottles which had been dumped in the turnaround area in Knockholt Close. If residents see anyone inhaling Nitrous Oxide gas/balloons or smoking cannabis, then please let Belmont Safer Neighbourhood Team know. You can report it to 101 as a non-urgent crime, and if possible make a note of any registration numbers of vehicles involved.
A dumped Toyota Aygo has been noted parked on Hulverston Close, and this will be reported to Sutton Council/DVLA to get it removed.
We hope you all have a great weekend, regards your Belmont Safer Neighbourhood Team.
