I wanted to provide an update regarding the theft of motor vehicles, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. 🚔 Fulham Town SNT – Community Notice From: Fulham Town Safer Neighbourhood Team Date: October 2026 Dear Residents, We’re writing to make you aware that we’ve seen a recent rise in motor vehicle crime and cycle theft across our residential streets. While this is concerning, there are simple, effective steps we can all take to protect our property and keep our community safe. 🚗 Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention - Lock it, remove it: Always lock your vehicle and take keys/valuables with you – even for a minute. - Nothing on show: Remove bags, phones, wallets, chargers, and especially spare keys. Thieves look for easy targets. - Light and visibility: Park in well-lit areas if possible. Consider driveway lights or sensor lighting at home. - Security marking: Register number plates and use steering wheel locks, gear locks, or alarms. - Key security: Keep car keys away from doors/windows and out of sight – keep them in a metal tin or signal-blocking pouch to prevent relay theft. 🚲 Cycle Theft Prevention - Two locks minimum: Use a high-quality D-lock through the frame AND a second lock for the wheels. Cheap locks are easily broken. - Secure it properly: Lock your bike to a fixed, immovable object – not just to itself or a flimsy rail. - Register your bike: Record your frame number and register it for free on BikeRegister or Immobilise. This greatly increases the chance of recovery. - Mark it: Mark your postcode on the frame in several places. Stolen bikes are hard to sell if clearly marked. - Light it up: Keep bikes in lit areas or secure sheds/garages. Consider a shed alarm or padlock. 📢 Report It! If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or bikes, please report it immediately: - Emergency: 999 if a crime is in progress - Non-emergency: 101 or online at met.police.uk/report - Always report theft: Even if you think it’s “too late” – reports help us spot patterns and target patrols where needed. Immobilise: Register all your property for free at immobilise.com – it’s the UK’s national property register. We’re continuing to increase high-visibility patrols across Fulham Town, and your local PCSOs and officers are here to support you. If you have concerns or spot anything suspicious, please don’t hesitate to speak to us or get in touch. Thank you for helping us keep Fulham safe. Your Fulham Town SNT Team 💡 Working together for a safer community
We know that people can be concerned about the personal and financial impact of having their vehicle stolen, which is why we will pursue and arrest those who break the law. Please consider taking the following steps to keep your vehicle safe: Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked. Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door. If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when its not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months. Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you don’t have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space. Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme. Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others.
