Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.
To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at HackneyCentral@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues
We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:
| Priority | Action taken |
|---|---|
|
Reduce drug dealing, drug use, shoplifting, street drinking and other forms of anti-social behaviour on the Narrow Way and St John's Churchyard. Issued 24 February 2026 |
Officers will increase patrols on the Narrow Way and St John's Churchyard. SNT officers will conduct patrols, joint work with other units, the council and enforcement officers and share intel so patrols may be tailored to deter drug dealing, drug use, shoplifting, street drinking and anti-social behaviour. SNT officers will also plan plain clothes patrols to stop and search nominals and pass on intelligence. Actioned 24 February 2026 |
|
(COMMUNITY NOMINATED). During the course of the latest CAP meeting, Panel members have raised the following concerns. Drug dealers/users and street drinkers in the area of the Pembury Place, Dalston Lane, Amhurst Road and its surrounding areas has become a constant issue. This is occurring almost daily at various times. Panel members and local resident have requested police patrols. Daily patrols in problem locations. A mixture of high visibility and covert foot patrols will also be carried out. Team to work with local authority and other partners to find long term solution to curb ASB in the above mentioned areas. Issued 24 February 2026 |
Officers will continue to engage with the street drinkers to build positive rapport which helps when asking the groups to move on from the area. When this does not work ASB warnings, CPW, CPN, Dispersal Orders will be given in order to escalate the situation due to persistent ASB which residents and business owners complain about. Officers will link in with Project Adder and the ASB team in order to deal with this ongoing issue. Actioned 24 February 2026 |
|
(COMMUNITY NOMINATED). Ward Panel members have also agreed that Theft of/from motor vehicle crimes is an issue and should be dealt with. Hackney Central SNT will conduct and focus its patrols where there has been an increase in motor vehicle crimes and pedal cycles including E-Bikes. Officers will distribute crime prevention advice leaflets, give advice around target hardening and best practice vehicle crimes. Daily patrols in problem locations. A mixture of high visibility and covert foot patrols will also be carried out. Issued 24 February 2026 |
Officers will continue to inform residents about how to keep their vehicles safe and also provide face to face crime prevention advice or via leaflet drops. Officers will increase their presence now the nights are getting longer and conduct patrols on late shifts as part of community reassurance and target areas where vehicle crime is likely due to poor street lighting. Actioned 24 February 2026 |
The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
