Hackney Central
Welcome to Met Engage,
We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.
Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.
This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.
Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.
To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at HackneyCentral@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues
We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:
| Priority | Action taken |
|---|---|
|
Reduce drug dealing, drug use, shoplifting, street drinking and other forms of anti-social behaviour on the Narrow Way and in St John's Churchyard. Issued 09 June 2026 |
Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will increase patrols on the Narrow Way and St John's Churchyard. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will conduct patrols and liaise with Hackney Council's Antisocial Behaviour Team to share information so patrols may be tailored to counter the drug dealing, drug use, shoplifting, street drinking and antisocial behaviour. Hackney Central Safer Neighbour Team will conduct plain clothes patrols to identify offenders and more easily obtain information to share with the local authority Antisocial Behaviour Team. (COMMUNITY NOMINATED). At the last CAP meeting, panel members raised the following concern: drug dealers, drug users and street drinkers in the area of Pembury Place, Dalston Lane and Amhurst Road. This is occurring almost daily at various times. Panel members and local residents have requested daily patrols in problem locations. A mixture of high-visibility and plain clothes foot patrols will be conducted to counter the problem. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will work with the local authority and other partners to find a long-term solution to curb antisocial behaviour in the above mentioned areas. Issued 09 June 2026 |
Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to engage with street drinkers to encourage them to cease drinking in public and move from the area. Antisocial behaviour warnings, Community Protection Warnings, Community Protection Notices and dispersal orders will be issued to persistent street drinkers to counter antisocial behaviour. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will refer street drinkers and drug users to Project ADDER (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement and Recovery) and liaise with Hackney Council's Anti Social Behaviour team to resolve this longstanding issue. Actioned 09 June 2026 |
|
(COMMUNITY NOMINATED). Ward panel members have highlighted theft from, and theft of, motor vehicles as an issue. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will focus patrols where there has been an increase in theft from, and theft of, motor vehicles. The Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will distribute crime prevention advice leaflets and advise around target hardening. A mixture of high-visibility and plain clothes foot patrols will be conducted in problem locations. Issued 09 June 2026 |
Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to inform residents on how to keep their vehicles safe through face-to-face crime prevention advice and distributing crime prevention leaflets. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will increase patrolling during the summer months for community reassurance and target areas where vehicle crime is likely due to poor street lighting. Actioned 09 June 2026 |
The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
