Stoke Newington Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Theft and Robbery Issued 22 July 2026	This priority concerns theft/robbery offences: Officers will conduct high visibility and plain clothed operations, adjusting their shifts to accommodate presence during peak offending times. Operation Petorca has been created in order to tackle specific bus related thefts for our local area. Patrols will be varied through foot and cycle patrols in order to get to harder to reach locations with ease Phone marking events to be regularly done on the ward to assist with recovery of property Joint patrols with Hackney Enforcement Officers TFL ongoing operations also cover bus enabled theft/robbery and violent offences. Burglary Issued 22 July 2026	Officers will continue to complete targeted patrols of hotspot areas to act as visible deterrent to burglaries. Officers will be deployed to speak to residents about enhancing security features to their home addresses and businesses to support reducing the risk of burglaries. We will work in partnership with internal investigation teams to support the identification of offenders and share information where possible to support local residents. Actioned 22 October 2026
