Becontree

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Becontree Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at Becontree@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Priority Action taken

Residents have also reported rough sleeping at the back of their gardens which is linked to Goodmayes park. Data shows 15 ASB related incidents reported to police since last ward panel.

Issued 04 June 2026

Becontree officers will conduct High visibility patrols along high footfall areas including Green Lane. Officers will continue to be a presence around schools and park entrances. Becontree team will also work in partnership with Redbridge SNT to tackle ASB related to Goodmayes park which is having direct affect on Becontree residents. One address has been identified on Gainsborough road and occupants will be issued with CPN in the coming weeks.

In response, heightened high-visibility and covert patrols are being conducted at various times, focusing particularly on these areas. Officers will continue to provide practical crime prevention advice to residents on securing their vehicles and contents through face-to-face interactions and social media. This approach aims to raise awareness and prevent further incidents. One particular address has been identified as the sole cause of this issue. CPW has been issued. Team will be working ASB team from LBBD and will be issuing a CPN in the coming weeks. Further work is also being carried out with council to identify letting agent and landlord so eviction can be considered. Becontree team will also be conducting a speed gun operation on Mayesbrook Road due to residents reporting speeding vehicles.

In response officers will continue to proactively patrol areas raised at varying times of the day and promote the use of Met Engage as a direct way of contacting their local SNT officers and providing crime prevention advice. Team will also be working with Redbridge Goodmayes SNT as most offences are linked to Goodmayes park or borders of Redbridge.
