Village - Barking & Dagenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Intelligence gathering/development followed by tactical policing patrols. This is due an increase in theft from motor vehcile and theft of blue badges within the area of Drayton Gardens and surrounding streets. M - SNT to conduct HVP and plain clothes patrols where reasonable in hot spot zones in order to deter culprits, by means of arrests, stop & searches, etc. A - SARA problem solving model will be conducted. Burglaries have remained high even though the christmas season has passed. High visibility patrols, crime prevention and partnership working to deter offending in area. ASB DRUGS - Drug dealing and users across the ward at multiple location. concerned in violence and other ASB issues Issued 04 July 2025	S - Reduce ASB in form of drug dealing and taking within multiple locations across the ward. ASB STREET DRINKING - Street drinking with the area of West Ealing, namely Mattock lane, Melbourne Avenue and Walpole Park area. Issued 04 July 2025	S - Reduce street drinking in the local park areas M - SNT to conduct HVP to deter issues and reassure community. Work along Park Guard from Ealing council. A - SARA problem solving model will be conducted. R - This priority is relevant and voted in at a Ward Panel meeting. Hanwell Broadway - Drugs – Boxwood House, Green Man Estate, W13 Issued 05 June 2025	This is an ongoing priority set for the team. Previously the team has conducted a lot of work tackling drug related issues with some great success. Two separate issues identified. One problem is Class A users who congregate in bin rooms and are involved in theft shoplifting and theft offences to fund their habits. Second and more serious issue is drug dealing and use by younger group of mainly males. They congregate stairwells of the blocks and car park and more violent. Police have found drugs and knifes hidden in communal areas. Short term plans: 1. More High visibility patrols in the area to deter such activity and reassure the general public. 2. Plain-clothes patrols to apprehend perpetrators and to bring them to justice. 3. Persistent offenders to be issued community protection warnings. Actioned 03 July 2025
Hanwell Broadway - Drugs – Hanwell Clock Tower & George Street Car Park, Hanwell, W7 Issued 05 June 2025	This is an ongoing priority set for the team. Previously the team has conducted a lot of work tackling drug related issues with some great success. Victims – Local residents and schools. Offenders – Unknown suspects involved in drugs misuse. Locations – Hanwell Clock Tower, George Street car park and surrounding roads Time – Reported all times during the day and late evenings. This is currently a new priority set for the team.
