Barkingside Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority	Action taken
Barkingside has a main transport hub in Gants Hill, including busy night life venues. Due to the area covering a busy Underground Station and a variety of community shops, the priority includes tackling Violence Related Offences Issued 06 October 2025	SNT officers tirelessly patrolling Gants Hill and local vicinity to diminish and reduce ASB, VAWG, street drinking and any other offences . SNT have pre-planned joint patrols with Redbridge Enforcements officers and will be issuing EIS, ASB warnings , early intervention scheme to all offenders followed by CPW, CPN. Reassurance and targeted patrols will continue. Actioned 06 October 2025
Gants Hill Underground station serves as the main transport hub in Barkingside, that serves hundreds members of Public due to its direct link into Central London. Gants Hill Underground is also situated at a busy roundabout junction, that correspondingly attracts vagrancy, begging and general ASB at the traffic lights and subway underpasses. Issued 06 October 2025	Significant reduction of begging and anti social behaviour in the area and businesses have stated that there is an improvement in the area. SNT to continue proactive patrols and targeting offenders Actioned 06 October 2025
Motor vehicle crime including theft of and theft from motor vehicle Issued 06 October 2025	Officers are conducting regular high visibility hot spot patrols alongside providing crime prevention advice to residents. Ensuring residents are advised to obtain Faraday Bag-signal blockers. Street briefings are held at various streets including with the local Council to correlate joint initiatives to provide an efficient way of joint partnership working to decrease crime. Patrols continue in the most recent affected locations. Actioned 06 October 2025
