Southbury
Hello Southbury residents,
Your local Southbury Safer Neighbourhood Team has been out across the ward this week, focusing on the issues you’ve told us matter most.
👮♂️ Patrols & Visibility
- Increased high‑visibility patrols around Southbury Road, Ponders End High Street, and the retail parks, particularly during peak hours.
- Targeted reassurance patrols near schools during drop‑off and pick‑up times to support young people and parents.
🚗 Vehicle Crime Prevention
We’ve seen a rise in reports of thefts from vehicles in the area. Officers have been conducting evening patrols in hotspot streets and speaking with residents about simple steps to reduce risk. Please remember:
- Remove valuables from view - this is the single easiest way to protect not only you belongings but also the vehicle itself.
- Double‑check your vehicle is locked - with keyless entry and remote central locking doors can sometimes be left unlocked, always test the door to ensure its locked.
- Report suspicious behaviour to us as soon as you see it - if serious crime its 999, for other matters please use 101 or online reporting.
🏘️ Community Engagement
- Officers attended the Southbury Ward Panel, listening to your priorities and updating you on ongoing work.
- We’ve been visiting local businesses to offer crime‑prevention advice and strengthen our partnership approach to tackling shoplifting and antisocial behaviour.
- Shoplifting will continue to be a main focus for Southbury officers and recent prosecutions have seen a reduction in this offence at the Co Op Leighton Road.
🛠️ Problem‑Solving Work
We’re working with Enfield Council to address ongoing concerns around:
- Antisocial behaviour near Southbury Station
- Fly‑tipping hotspots around residential estates
- Youth-related concerns raised by local schools
Joint visits and follow‑up actions are already underway, with recent visits to Poynter Road as a priority.
📞 Stay Connected
Your feedback shapes our priorities. If you have concerns, information, or would like to meet the team, please get in touch or come along to one of our upcoming community contact sessions.
Together, we can keep Southbury a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
