Childs Hill

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Childs Hill Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at ChildsHill@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Retail Crime - Golders Green Road and Cricklewood Lane:
Intelligence analysis has identified retail crime as a key generator of violence in Childs Hill, as well as contributing to anti-social behaviour on the ward.
Your local team will use a range of tactics in collaboration with local partners to drive down this crime type.

Issued 01 April 2026

Officers have been conducting enhanced patrols in the areas most commonly affected by retail crime, including targeted plain clothes patrols. New technology is being utilised to identify and arrest prolific offenders. Post conviction orders are also routinely being sought in order to manage the risk of reoffending. Shops suspected of being involved in handling of stolen goods have also been targeted in order to reduce the market for stolen goods.

Actioned 01 April 2026

Motor Vehicle crime - This has been identified as an area of significant concern to the local community. This priority includes both theft from and theft of motor vehicles.

Issued 01 April 2026

SNT have been conducting targeted patrols in areas identified as having a high incidence of theft from motor vehicle offences. Every M/V crime report is scrutinised and reassurance and crime prevention advice is offered to victims. Analysis of the offences has identified certain vehicles being targeted. Officers are conducting leaflet drops with assistance from Barnet VPC especially focused on owners of at risk vehicles.

Actioned 01 April 2026

SNT will be conducting high visibility patrols, utilising stop and search where grounds exist as well as gathering intelligence to target and catch offenders. SNT will also conduct weapons sweeps in the area to reduce the risk of harm to the community. SNT will also look to issue Community Protection Notices. SNT will lease with LBB regarding the potential for a barrier to be placed at the entrance of the Ridge Road Car Park, as well as using the Barnet Volunteer Police Cadets to clean up the litter within the car park

Issued 01 April 2026

Ongoing work to reduce recorded offences and target offenders.
This ward priority has been agreed as continuing into 2025, Police have been conducting reassurance patrols in the area and VPC conducted a weapons sweep in recent days.

Actioned 01 April 2026

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
