The North Harrow team have been conducting a targeted approach to shoplifting, running operation Auralith which is a targeted operation focussed on shoplifting. Specifically working towards identifying and apprehending prolific offenders and providing crime prevention advice to repeat victims.
The operation aims to target and disrupt prolific shoplifting offenders across North Harrow through intelligence‑led patrol activity, deploying officers in both high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols to deter offenders and identify those responsible for continued theft.
Engaging directly with shop staff and security teams to deliver crime prevention advice, reinforce best practice, and encourage consistent reporting.

Throughout the operation the team will, monitor shoplifting levels through recorded crime data, crime reports, and intelligence submissions from officers and retailers. Assess whether engagement with shop staff has increased reporting rates and improved prevention measures.
Review the effectiveness of patrols by evaluating detections, stop/search activity, and reduction in repeat targeting of the same premises.
Evaluate the identification and disruption of prolific offenders and the impact this has on overall theft levels.
