Addiscombe East

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Addiscombe East Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at AddiscombeEast@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Shoplifting
Addiscombe East residents and staff in local stores had raised concerns of repeat shoplifters. The staff and residents were concerned that the shoplifting incidents would continue and those committing the offences would commit further linked offences.

Issued 01 March 2026

SNT Officers have completed a number of planned operations over the last two months specifically targeting repeated shoplifting venues. The operations have involved proactive positive action being carried out and through suspects being identified, arrests made convictions secured at court and injunctions given to repeat offenders banning them from Addiscombe. Those arrested were linked to other matters such as ASB and through the arrests and referrals to charity groups in relation to substance misuse, this has led to a reduction in shoplifting and linked offences.

Actioned 13 April 2026

Drug use/ASB

The issue of drug use and linked ASB was raised by residents and staff in Addiscombe East.

Issued 01 March 2026

SNT officers have worked hard to carry out high visibility patrols and improve intervention methods when dealing with drug users. This has been through referrals and support being offered.
SNT officers have carried out stop and searches on drug suppliers within the ward and Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO) have been applied for against convicted criminals. One positive result was a 5 year banning order issued to a repeat drug user who had caused significant ASB and shoplifting in the area.
A further CBO is to be applied for against another known drug dealer and user.

SNT officers are working in conjunction with Croydon council and housing associations regarding requesting and obtaining the repossession of three addresses/eviction of tenants lwhere there is continuous ASB on the ward along with other offences.

Actioned 14 March 2026

Violence
Reducing Violent Crime as a Pan London objective working in conjunction with local residents and businesses to focus on hotspots areas and identified individuals

Issued 01 January 2026

SNT officers are carrying out high visibility patrols, whilst also regularly carrying out arrest enquiries for high harm offenders.
SNT officers have worked with Croydon council to safeguard vulnerable females which has involved conditions imposed on males linked to violence to have them removed from Croydon.
SNT officers have also worked hard alongside partner agencies to improve safety conditions within communal locations of locations which include security doors fixed, lighting increased, joint visits and regular contact with residents.

Actioned 14 April 2026

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
