West Heath Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Focus on reducing anti-social behaviour (ASB) in identified hotspot locations, including the Pantiles and local open spaces, through targeted patrols, early intervention, enforcement activity, and partnership working to improve community safety and public confidence. Issued 06 October 2026	Conduct high-visibility and targeted patrols in identified ASB hotspot locations including St Stephens Park, West Heath Recreational Park and Hurst Lane Estate. Identify and engage with individuals involved in ASB, taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary. Utilise Anti-Social Behaviour legislation and available powers to prevent and address persistent nuisance behaviour. Work with local authority partners, housing providers, and community groups to identify and resolve recurring ASB issues. Gather community intelligence and encourage reporting to support problem-solving and targeted interventions. Actioned 01 February 2027
Address and reduce drug use across the ward, with a particular focus on identified hotspot locations including the Pantiles, Tor Road, Bognor Road, Lodge Hill, Orchard Avenue, Axminster Crescent and Saltash Road. This will be achieved through high-visibility patrols, intelligence-led enforcement activity, community engagement, and the use of appropriate powers to disrupt drug-related behaviour and associated anti-social conduct. Carry out proactive, intelligence-led stop and search activity to identify offenders, disrupt criminality, and remove drugs and weapons from the community. Utilise Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) legislation and available powers to disrupt, deter, and address drug-related activity and associated offending. Actioned 01 February 2027
Tackle speeding and vehicle-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) across the ward through a combination of enforcement, education, and community engagement. Activity will focus on identified problem locations, utilising targeted patrols, speed enforcement initiatives, engagement with motorists, and partnership working to improve road safety and reduce nuisance vehicle use. Issued 06 October 2026	Conduct targeted speed enforcement operations in identified hotspot locations (Axminister Crescent, Oakhamptom Crescent, Gipsy Road and Woolwich Road, to deter speeding and improve road safety. Enforce traffic offences in accordance with the Road Traffic Act and other relevant legislation, taking positive action against offending drivers. Utilise Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) powers where appropriate to address vehicle-related nuisance, dangerous driving, and persistent offending. Engage with motorists through education and awareness campaigns to promote safer driving behaviour and encourage compliance with road traffic laws. Actioned 01 February 2027
