West Thamesmead Safer Neighbourhoods Team
Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues
We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Violent Crime including Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) Issued 05 October 2026 |
High visibility patrols continue to be conducted throughout the ward to prevent violent offences, particularly along the Thames Path as an area highlighted by residents that can sometimes feel unsafe. VAWG Walk, Talk & Do events being organised by ward officers and invites to be sent out via Met Engage. Actioned 05 January 2027 |

Moped related ASB and dangerous riding in West Thamesmead specifically along the Thames Path Issued 05 October 2026 |
Residents are raising concerns about the use of mopeds being ridden around West Thamesmead and more specifically the Thames Path in an anti-social and dangerous manner. Residents at the quarterly ward panel meeting feel that it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs. Offenders to be processed for any offences under the Road Traffic Act and S59 seizure powers to be utilised. Actioned 05 January 2027 |

Drug related activities across the ward Issued 05 October 2026 |
Drug related activities have been highlighted by residents at the recent ward panel meeting as a cause for concern, leaving an impression that the area that they reside in feels unsafe to them. They have requested that police focus on drugs patrols and stop and searches in the hope of deterring suspects from loitering in the ward and giving off the impression of an unsafe environment. Actioned 05 January 2027 |
