St Helier

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

St Helier Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at StHelier@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Shoplifting offences

Issued 13 November 2025

St Helier Ward and other teams will aim to tackle and reduce shoplifting offences and bring offenders to justice by;
- Completing operations on Morden High Street targeting those committing theft offences
- Working with business premises to ID offenders through the use of CCTV or other enquiries
- Work with other teams within the Metropolitan police to secure convictions where there is appropriate evidence of an offence
- Patrol areas where there are a higher number of shoplifting offences as part of a typical daily deployment

Burglary

Issued 13 November 2025

Officers and PCSO's will visit all victims of burglary, offering re-assurance and crime prevention advice to the community.
Working in partnership with our investigation teams we will look to identify any evidential leads, such as CCTV to pursue offenders and bring justice to victims.
Burglary on the ward has increased 14% year on year, which is something we are hoping to reverse through giving people better information to prevent them becoming victims as well as catching burglars through evidence

We are also setting up pro-active operations targetting burglary and motor vehicle crime in the area and surrounding

Motor-vehicle crime - both theft of and theft from motor vehicle

Issued 13 November 2025

Pro-active operations have taken place in an attempt to tackle this issue, officers working extended or additional shifts has taken place targeting areas of high motor-vehicle crime which has lead to arrests of offenders during the deployments.
Despite this, motor vehicle crime remains an issue, there has been a 6% increase year on year in offences which we hope to reduce.

Preventing thefts from can be achieved from not leaving any money or valuables in unattended vehicles

We are also setting up pro-active operations targetting burglary and motor vehicle crime in the area and surrounding
