Ickenham & South Harefield Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Issued 06 October 2025	Conduct high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas, particularly during key times, (eg school commute and night time economy hours), while working with local partners to raise awareness, promote safer spaces and encourage reporting. Officers will engage with women and girls in the community to better understand their concerns, feeding this into local problem solving and targeted enforcement activity. Actioned 06 January 2026
Retail Theft Issued 06 October 2025	• Conducting regular high-visibility patrols in and around retail hotspots to deter offenders. • Working closely with store managers and security teams to share intelligence and identify prolific offenders. • Implementing targeted operations using plain-clothes officers where needed. • Engaging with youth services and support agencies to address underlying causes of offending behaviour. • Supporting businesses to improve CCTV coverage and crime reporting processes. • Seeking Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) for persistent offenders to restrict their access to shops. Issued 06 October 2025	• Carrying out targeted patrols in hotspot areas using both uniformed and plain-clothes officers. • Using CCTV, ANPR, and community intelligence to identify suspects and linked vehicles. • Promoting crime prevention advice, including the use of Faraday pouches, steering locks, and ensuring no valuables are left on display. • Collaborating with Neighbourhood Watch, local businesses, and garages to gather intelligence and support prevention efforts. • Engaging with victims to ensure incidents are reported and appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.
