Bellingham

Welcome to Met Engage,

We're transforming the Met to become a service that truly delivers for you.

Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.

This isn't just a platform for us to tell you what we're doing in your area, it's an opportunity for you to tell us what's concerning you most so we can take action on the things that truly matter to you.

Bellingham Safer Neighbourhoods Team

Your Safer Neighbourhoods Team is a group of Met police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers based in your area or 'ward', supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across London.

To contact to your team about local policing issues, email us at Bellingham@contact.metengage.co.uk or pick an officer to email below. (Please do not use this contact method to report crime, in an emergency always call 999 or you can report crime online at www.met.police.uk or dial 101).

Local Priority Issues

We are committed to tackling the issues that matter most to local communities. Based on our conversations with residents, and the issues they have raised with us, our main priorities are:

Priority Action taken

Drugs - Issues linked to drug related activity and the associated violence that goes with this within the ward. Local patrols and engagement across the ward to be carried out. Targeting where there are reports of Retail theft, drug dealing and misuse. Liaising with residents to gather intelligence.

Issued 21 January 2026

Joint working with partners
Daily visits and visits to local businesses to reduce HSG opportunities
Targeted use of CBO's and CPN's for repeat offenders
To combat this, the team ensure to be out as a visible presence to deter any further drug offences on the ward. The team also patrol hotspots where drug use and dealing have taken place using both high visibility and covert patrols.
Stop and searches, closure orders.

Actioned 21 April 2026

Anti Social Behaviour perpetrated within specific areas of the ward

Issued 21 January 2026

The Bell Green Retail Park is a known area where anti-social behaviour and drug-related anti-social behaviour occur, particularly Sainsbury’s on the Retail Park.
The team are in contact with local businesses in the retail park, and are continuing to do high visibility patrols of the area on foot, in vehicles, and also doing plain-clothed patrols.
Police are working with the Safer Business Network to reduce retail criminality on the ward, CPW's, CPN's and CBO's to be considered.
PSPO patrols, stop and searches

Actioned 21 April 2026

Violence with injury and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a corporate, MPS wide priority.

Issued 21 January 2026

SNT officers will increase patrols in the specific areas identified where offences have occurred to gather information to inform targeted stop and search action, and potential warrants.
SNT officers will engage with members of the public to encourage the use of the Street Safe tool to anonymously record the areas of Bellingham in which they feel least safe and why. The designated areas has also been posted with Metengage leaflets.

Actioned 21 April 2026

The word cloud below represents the issues raised by residents through their Local Matters survey. We take this into consideration along with discussions with stakeholders, ward panel meetings and conversations with the public when setting our key priorities
